How many killers have you had to let walk? (number of cases quit)

I am a little bit angry, I have just had to let my first killer walk, because none of my suspects would reveal the motives of my 2 prime suspects

It looks like I've quit nearly 800 cases, though later on in the game you might find yourself quitting cases intentionally.
Always a bummer though when you're trying to solve a case and you just can't get that key bit of evidence. Bad luck!

Think I beat Yeti a bit - I have 892 quit cases - so that's 892 people that I didn't catch red-handed of murder :(
On the bright side though, I got about 4000+ locked away, those scallywags!

I did intentionally let this one walk, because I didn't have the evidence and I didn't want to falsely accuse some poor guy (that will be the only reason I ever let a killer walk, I am not one for the political side of the game)

Out of about 7000 cases, I'm averaging a success rate of about 82%. I've often had to quit cases due to sheer impossibility, reaching a dead-end, trying to gain a faction bonus or because I had to for "other reasons".
I still don't like quitting cases though :-p

Neither do I Mel but sometimes even the best detectives have to let a killer walk because of lack of evidence or uncooperative suspects and or witnesses, and letting a killer walk is better than falsely accusing an innocent man or woman

Sometimes I like to tell someone I'll do them a favour, then once I've started the case I'll immediately quit it and laugh in their face.

And it would appear your nonchalance about catching murderers has actually been rewarded, Squirrel.
Sometimes I start a case, go to the map page, and know immediately that I am not interested in completing this particular case. So I quit it, and laugh in my client's face.
