See if there is interest for this.
1. Each day I will post 10 questions, at random times of the day.
2. Each Quiz runs exactly 24 hours.
3. The first person that has all 10 questions right, wins. Or if no one has all questions right, the best one wins.
4. You can only post answers ONCE for the same quiz.
5. No cash involved. Just glory. :)

Hmm ... I'm rubbish at chemistry, so I'll be making myself look very stupid him, but I'd like to set myself a target of 2/10. Here we go:
1) Litmus pap
2) Ammonia
3) Don't know.
4) Advertising Standards Authority (that's what it stands for in the UK anyway - I'm sure it's got nothing to do with chemistry!)
5) The acidity / alkalinity of a subtance
6) They both start with the letter B.
7) Petrometoxinethylate
8) A Mono-Synthetic Doppler Solution
9) Umm ... six. Yes, definitely six.
10) Mud.
Hmmm ... not really a surprise that I got a 'D' in chemistry is it? : o )

Ooooh Chemistry! should be easy!
1)phenolphthalein
2)ammonia
3)erm... chemicals that contain heavy elements (elements with high atomic masses)
4)acetyl salicyclic acid? hmmm
5)pH= -log[H+] (negative log (base 10) of hydrogen ion concentration)
6)haha! the fifth element! :D
7)methyl cyanide
8)Material Safety Data Sheet
9)two
10)erm... its not I3- ions is it? (triiodide ions)

1.) phenophtaline
2.)ammonia
3.)has extra neutron ex. heavy water D2O2
4.) not sure abrev. for aspirin in medical assoc.
5.) the amt. of hydrogen in the solution greater than 7 basic less than 7 acidic
6.)The Fith Element (Funny) Had to think on that one
7.) methyl cyanide
8.) msds= material saftey data sheets (its in every lab)
9.) 58
10.) have no idea, the disassociating iodide ions

Blaise: You got 1 right. No 2 as it happens
Marcus: You got 8 right.
Mackenzie: You got 5 right.
The correct answers are:
1) Phenolpthalein (You spelt it wrong Mackenzie)
2) Ammonia
3) Heavy chemicals are those that are made in massive quantities in an industrial process. Sulphuric acid for example.
4) Alkenyl Succinic Anhydride (Typically used in paper manufacture)
5) The negative Log to Base ten of Hydrogen Ion concentration. Interestingly it is possible for an acid to have a pH over 7. What matters is that the chemical acts as an acid and not a base.
6) Boron is the Fifth Element. A Bruce Willis film.
7) CyanoMethane. However Methyl Cyanide would also be correct.
8) Material Safety Data Sheet
9) Sulphuric Acid is a Di-protic acid so the answer is 2. However the total number of protons in H2SO4 is 50 by my count.
10) The formation of the I3 complex as part of a dynamic equilibrium. Marcus and Mackenzie were both correct.
