Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

You're in luck, Daenerys! Edward the Confessor (aka as the last king of the house of Wessex) was canonized (declared a saint) a hundred years after he died in 1161. He was also the predecessor to Harold I (aka the guy shot in the eye while fighting Willian the Conqueror, or as the english call him, William the Bastard. and yes, he was one. but since the guy we're looking for was never a king, Edward's out of the running! Good luck and carry on! Luc

*turns up late again*

The only English saints I can currently think of are Chad, Dunstan, Alphege and Cuthbert (helps to have had things named after saints in primary school), and I'm not actually sure whether they were English or just did their saint stuff in England. There's also Augustine, but I'm fairly sure he wasn't English. And Bede, but he was just a venerable. Aarrgh.

Well, just to continue the guessing:

Saint Boniface?

Saint Dunstan?

Answer: none of the above. and actually one of you is closer than you thought. i misspoke in that our guy was actually IRISH but did most of his work in ENGLAND. also, you might want to follow down the paths of Cuthbert and Chad. it could be that you'll run across our guy...L

Breit here again. ;-)

Yes, Cordy, you're allowed to Google, at least for this person. ;-)

And Peter got it right!!!! ;-D ;-D ;-D

YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St. Aidan was the namesake of the school where I went through those blasted O level test preps that I had to learn all those Roman and Greek gods and myths (remember, Vulcan, Bela?? ;-). And the idea of a guy who spent most of his life in beggars' clothes or monks' robes having a "sexy and svelte body" just made me explode in laughter (thank you so very much for that one, Sophie!! I really needed a good belly laugh. ;-D As for him being a politician, an actor, or a terrorist, those all got similar giggles from me. ;-D Finally, sorry bout the confusion about "being from heaven," but to my mind, a saint is about as close to a heavenly being as we have around here.

Anyway, hope y'all had fun with that one. Congratulations, Peter!! Good job!! I look forward to what you come up with!! ;-D

Thanks Breit, and thanks to everyone else without whose clues and questions I could never have succeeded. And yes, thanks to Google, too.

So, now the real tough part - picking a person not too easy and not too hard. Let's see - real or fiction? Male or female? Recent or ancient? Or futuristic?

Oh what the heck. Go ahead. I have someone in mind. No hints yet.

GAME ON!
