I have been wondering, what era does the game take place in. There appears to be at least one contradiction, There is Big Lucy's cabaret which is fine because alcohol was outlawed in the US in the 1920's but why is there a bar in the open in prohibition era New York. I can see a bar or a speakeasy but both? Maybe we should make the bar into a coffee bar

I think this is a valid question pointed out by iggymint. It is good to clarify about the "world-view" of the game.

As the others have pointed out, the setting is supposed to be sometime 1920-1940 according to the Admin, so it does give some leeway for our imagination. As to the location, we are not even sure it is set in the US, despite the New York map. I see many players use names like Sleuthville, Sleuthtown or simply The City.

Therefore, for me, I consider the location as an "alternative" place and historical period, that corresponds roughly with 1920s-1940s America. This helps to allow for inaccuracies and inconsistencies with historical facts.

Heheh, who would live a town where so many people get killed. Like Jessica Fletcher, when she comes to town, you leave it....as someone WILL get killed.
