Do you mean favors or little jobs? favors you do for the townspeople (barber, waiter, etc)
little jobs are for the factions (La Cosa Nostra, etc)
as you're not in an agency, I don't think it really matters. sometimes your agency (if you're in one) will ask you to hold on to something. I forget which one :-(

Doolittle, if you want to get in with a faction, getting to be #1 with them is worth it, though no one is revealing publicly why (we want to keep some mystery in the game).
Also, each faction sells gear, and the more points you have with them, the cheaper it gets. So if you know which one sells the kind of gear you want, it can be helpful.
In addition, each faction has a special skill. They aren't as important as the skills you can get with your skill points any old time, but as you go along you might find you want one of those skills, whether you are in an agency or not.
You need to be about 25 points "in" with the faction and then have enough skill points available to get their special skill.

I just got a special skill with my faction. Will I be able to get more skills when my EXP goes up? Also, how come I successfully finished 3 cases today, but I when I asked the contacts, none of them wanted a favour done? Aren't favours available for every 3 cases successfuly completed? Thanks

there is only one special skill in each faction. Those are acctually not that special, I would recomend getting other skills first.
You get a favor after 3 cases + the privious favor sucssefully completed. So its actually 4 cases if you count the favor. Could be that you didnt complete your last favor? Or quit some cases?
And as moonsh suggested in other post it could be that its changing...
