What: An Arch-Villain Hunt Tournament
When: Starts Jan. 9 (a Monday)
Who: Anyone subscribed: newbies, intermediate, and advanced players

Prizes!
Winners (yes, that is plural) will win 3-month gift subscriptions. If there are 7 or more in a category, runner-ups will win 1-month gift subscriptions. If you are just starting out or been around since the start of Sleuth Noir, there is a category for you.

Categories will be:
Jack Rabbits (sleuths with less than a million points)
Jackalopes (sleuths with less than 10 million points)
Old Dragons (8 figure sleuths)
Note: You cannot enter more than one category. Your category will stay with you as to where you are when you accept your round 1 mission from the prince.

Competition will be head-to-head. No teams, simply individual. Very simple. To reduce the blind luck factor, there will be playoffs as follows:
2-3 competitors: Best 2 out of 3 with all competitors
4-6 competitors: Top 2 sleuths will have a sudden death playoff.
7-9 competitors: Top 3 in sudden death
10 or more: a 2nd round will be announced where the top half will advance.

You can start your AVH anytime on January 9. Entries starting after that date will not count (except by special permission). If you fail your AVH, you are simply outâ€"so be careful. Subsequent rounds will start January 16. January 16 may be pushed back depending on the results of the 1st round. You are timed simply on the day you finish. NOT on the time of day. Don’t want anyone feeling like they have to start at a particular time of the day to be competitive. Only whole days will be counted, and YES, there may be ties. Any category must have 2 or more contestants to be viable.

Special Note: If January 9 is a bad day for you and you still want to enter this contest, please state so in a reply. Also state what date you can start. Reasonable requests will be accommodated, and only your total days on your AVH will be counted.

EVERYONE join in!

Still in my first city, and I'm just a few more repeat clues from just quitting...I thought Delhi was bad, but it's settled...

Shanghai is THE worst city when it comes to clues. I'm contemplating on blowing up the stupid race track just because. Instead of 'the hideout is SOUTH of the race track', it's going to be 'the hideout is SOUTH of Synesence's Pent-up Frustration Point'.

ARRRRGGHHHH!!!!

Congrats to Riza for finishing first! Delhi was being a bit stingy with me in the clue department, but after several repeats of the waiter's innocence, I finally caught that pesky villain!

Still in Shanghai, and out of cases. Only one clue from solving the city, and I've been one clue away for quite a few cases now. Hope I'll solve it quickly tomorrow and can head on to NY, my fourth city. I miss my PE-contact. My ONLY PE-contact...

Congrats to Riza and Joy for finishing first in their categories. I am on my second city hoping for that one clue to move on, unfortunately I am getting repeats and just finished my last case for the day.

Awesome as always Joy - a big congratulations on winning your (our) section! You and Riza must be powered by rocket fuel :)

Yes Delhi is a nightmare at times. Today I had to quit six cases there (yes, six). Is this a record? It made me feel like a novice again - but they were cases with multiple PE and alibis all for the same townie. Then - on the first question - the said townie required a bribe. And this happened over and over .....

I believe that the game database is alive and having a laugh at our expense!
Good luck to everyone for the rest of the tournament.

Congrats to Riza, never expected anything less from her. :)

And Congrats to Joy, who happened to put on her lucky shoes and optimistically kick every possible co-conspirator in every city in the rear till one of them confessed. Not the Sleuth-esque tactic, but who says we're bound to the handbook, right? Great work, Joy!

In other news, I'm going to blow up Shanghai. That's all for the Syn's Commentary for today. :)

Congrats to Joy and Riza! Awesome achievement to finish so soon!

And Syn: I'd appreciate it if you'd put off bombing Shanghai until I get out of town...

It won't be the entire city, I realized that's a bit too difficult.
I'm just to going to end the landmark that is the source of the gambling, the beatings, and the cruel treatment and abuse, both physically and emotionally, of our Three-Legged Tom. Seriously, the race track needs to go!

Anyone feeling the need to ride a horse, do it now! I'm just gathering up the explosives at Cairo.

You can blow up northeast and south of the race track, since I'm busy running between the silk merchant and caligraphist (waving an accusing finger under their noses and trying to make them confess), but leave the race track itself alone. I'm on a roll there!

Atta girl, Joy! You are definitely a top performer. You are also moving on to the next round. :)
