I haven't found a suggestions subforum so I'll ask here.
When I look at the "case" page, I think it would be great to also see the alibies of every suspect (the alibies that you have discovered), because clicking on each portrait to look for the alibi makes you lose time while the page loads and people with a less than good memory have difficulties remembering each and every suspects alibi.

Please notice that this community holds some opinions that a script wich will solve the case for you, is not wanted. It's in the code of conduct.
Only thing seen as ok, is sniffer applications. :-)

I have tried the SAH, it is very powerfull, but sadly it takes away some of the enjoyement of the game, as it highlights the suspects that can't be guilty.
What is a sniffer application?

Your idea's been suggested by others in the past. So far, Admin hasn't seen the need to act on it. I wouldn't hold my breath on having your plea answered anytime soon either. I have no bloomin' clue what a sniffer application is, though there are others round here who prob'ly do. Your best option right now is to use an electronic aid, like the still legal Automated Sleuth Helper created by Pidgeot. Sorry.

There is the Dr. Watson helper, which basically keeps track of the information you enter into the form. It doesn't do any of the work for you.

I have been considering to put up a somewhat advanced sniffer on playsleuth2, but I am very unsure if it will be ok or not. I'd like some opinions, and if it's seen as wrong, I will NOT do it.

My plan would then be to create a page that will contain the information collected from the current case that you are playing now, as well as ability to do some notations.
Also, I would like to put on that page "quick-links" that will bring you to pages or directly ask certain question.
I am droddling with the idea of automatically do lock picking and unclamming attempts or judge of character, but am very unsure about what side of the line that will be?
I would like to include a check on the one you try to accuse, in the way that you need to have made notations so that the "rules" will be followed.
What I do NOT want to include, is any kind of logic that will tell you who the killes is. Only some simple tools for you to make out the logic.
BUT, question is: Will this be something acceptable and ok, or will it be seen as crossing some lines set by the code of conduct?

Oh, sorry. I used the word "sniffer" as I had a feeling it was used in the code of conduct.

A sniffer, is a program that works like a dog... :-P
It will be "sniffing" on the communication, trying to figure out what kind of "smells" be present there.

Ok, in computer language... - the communication that goes to the Sleuth Noir server, from your browser program, as well as the communication that goes the other way is basically pure text information. So, a "sniffer" will look at the text that is transmitted and recieved in this communication, and extract information that might be useful.

When this is a sniffer used when solving cases, the useful information might be the names of the suspects, whether they have alibies or not, what responses the various people give on questions they are asked, and of course what kind of hand/hair/build/gender the suspects got.

For those knowing the Pidgeot helper, it will sniff the communication for information about the case. In addition to this, the helper have logic added that will help you figure out who is the killer.

The sniffer I was thinking of doing, would sniff the communication for the same kind of information, BUT, rather than having added logic for helping you to know who is the killer, I would like to include direct links to the things a user might want to do when working on a case. (like asking a certain suspect for alibi).

pigeot's case helper is fine. it 'receives' data *you had to go and collect yourself*. it doesn't shortcut having to click on suspects etc etc

anything that shortcuts the actual game, which hampers or removes players from the actual playing experience is 'not'.

the interface is there to be err interacted with, not to be bypassed, because it's seen as being 'too time consuming'.

'sniffers' was more to do with programs that might data-mine content. eg a program that asked townies 1000's of words in order to trigger the hidden word/phrase that you were actually after.
