A hint of a smile turned up one corner of his mouth. "Ah, okay." (Pushing the intercom button) "Akemo, would you step in here? We need someone transported to the local precinct."

At the muffled agreement, Breit turned toward the door, and the private suite kept for the Directors of Wish for when they had to spend a late night at the office. "I'm going up to shower and change, and see if I can convince Missy to take a swim in the bathtub. Don't bother us unless you've managed to build a second Ark. You won't survive the flood." With a final glare at her captive, she and cat disappeared.

Several seconds later, when he was sure both Breit and tiger were gone, the shackled man looked up. "I dunno what's goin' on, but that broad's plum crazy! I didn't even do anything! I was just mindin' me own business...."

His diatribe died away quickly at the sight of Dave's icy blue withering stare. "You tried to hurt my wife. You're very, very lucky that I wasn't around to deal with you."

Akemo came in just then, unshackled him from Missy's leash, and cuffed his hands behind his back. As Akemo turned the man towards the front stair, Dave called softly after them, "If I were you, my friend, I'd make very sure I never have the chance to lay eyes on you again. Ever. Have a nice life."

Dave sipped his coffee as he watched the two men head off, the thug growing paler with each step.
