Umm, one was The Red Baron. Second was a WWI soldier, but I dunno if he had any name attached to the character. Dunno bout any more??

"A Star Is Burns" because it had a crossover with the show "The Critic". Groening felt that it was just an advertisement for The Critic and that his name would become associated with it.

To Breit: you missed Joe Cool. Also, Snoopy's other (main) alter ego was an Allied pilot of a Sopwith Camel in WW1 - whose nemesis was the Red Baron.
