How do I know a suspect is guilty when I don't know if they have an alibi or if I cant verify it.

you can ask other suspects for witness information. (WE) If two of them agree on one person you can accuse. But it has to be two. One is not enough. The Rules as as follows:

Confirmed Physical Evidence (eg hair, thread) + No Alibi / False = Guilty
Confirmed Witness Evidence (eg I saw X wshing blood off his hands) + No Alibi / False = Guilty
Confirmed Witness Evidence + Confirmed Witness Evidence = Guilty.

I'll shift this over to newbie questions later.

What if there is physical evidence and one witness evidence. I tried that but I got it wrong.
Note I am not a newbie it's just now that I realized my strategy doesnt work.

You still must have two witness evidence if you cannt get an alibi out of them.

In order to successfully accuse you must have the following:

PE+Fake/NONE alibi=GUILTY
WE+Fake/NONE alibi=GUILTY
WE+WE=GUILTY

It seems like it should, but physical evidence and one witness evidence doesn't mean guilty without knowing the suspect's alibi (or lack thereof). Luckily I didn't accuse, but I've definitely had suspects who matched a PE and I got one WE, but they turned out to be innocent.

You can't get PE + PE. Each piece of physical evidence will be allotted to a different suspect. That's kinda handy to know.

hmmm try this site for a bit of a walkthrough on investigative techniques. It's kind of the only one that springs to mind, but I'm sure there are others.

Atticus...again, the 3 ways to successfully solve a case:

PE+Fake/NONE alibi=GUILTY
WE+Fake/NONE alibi=GUILTY
WE+WE=GUILTY
