Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.
Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

John Hale: That's from Lewis Carroll, whom I believe wrote that without actually knowing an answer. A number have been put forward though, including: Both produce notes but are not known for producing musical notes (E.A.Poe).

Jax123: wrong, but a worthy attempt. Give it another try.
Blaise: Since there is that ambiguity, I'll settle on yours. The answer I have is "Because Poe wrote on both".
