Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

I shall apologize if someone has posted this one before and would request anyone who knows this already, please PM me or wait for some new one to answer. A mail came to my father containing a challenge for mathematicians. Here's the question, if:
1=5
2=100
3=120
4=180
5=?
You need to find the answer.
I won't give any hints right now.

I think no one has tried mine still.
Come on! It's a challenge that came to us in mail.
Just give it a try. If you don't know, no problem.
We did not know too until we read the answer.

Hint: This is not simple mathematics

Is it 1?

Going back to my own math classes, if a=b then b=a. So since you said 1=5 then 5=1.

Since this thread is 4 years old, I suppose I don't have to feel to bad if this has already been posted. ;-)

A man left home and turned left. He jogged a little ways and turned left. He jogged a little ways and turned left. He jogged a little ways and was back home. When he got home, two masked men were waiting for him there.

Who were the masked men?

Well I actually know this one - but since no one else has ventured, I will answer. (come on, you sports fans!)

The two masked men were the catcher and the umpire (he was a baseball player!)

You are walking through a field on a brisk wintry day and chance upon a pipe, a carrot, and a couple sticks lying together on the ground. Why are they there?

Because the snow man blew away, and his nose, pipe that was in his mouth, and the sticks for his arms were left behind because they did not blow away.

Has anyone asked about the man who lies dead in a cabin on the side of a mountain? Just stop me if yes.
