I have no problems whatsoever with a discussion on 'in crowds' and 'inner circles' etc etc about mods being err mods etc etc

However, I DO have a BIG problem with people creating controversial posts and THEN answering their own posts via their alts to continue the conversation.

If you're talking to YOURSELF there's a good chance you're the ONLY ONE listening.

End Slap down.

I'm sorry Anias whilst yur post made me laugh, and was very well constructed, I think a to and from with Nephi is fairly pointless. The deconstruction of his ideas are what he wants, as it then gives him justification for feeling hard done by.

In the interest of fairness here is the basic gist of the idea suggested in the thread without the bitterness:

* a full reset of the game
* drain the server
* everyone starts again on jan 1, 2010
* erase all prior detectives and wipe the blackboard clean of everything
* then raise the monthly subscription to eight dollars and sixty for the year - just two choices
* implement a few of the new ideas observed in the new ideas section

please feel free to discuss these ideas. (not the original poster.)

perhaps if would behoove the older posters to let this slide and let fresh faces respond.

now you can wax lyrical anais.

Ah, well. It was quite fun to write! And I did tell you that I understood if you deleted it. ;)

My Newly Edited Post (Without all humor and much of the lyrical-ness):

I have been here for less than a year. I'm rather new here! There is an agent in my agency that is less than two months old, and I know quite a few people who are about a month old here as well. Players who have been here longer tend to be more outspoken, but that is mainly because they feel comfortable here. So, all we need to do is keep the new players who do come, and integrate them into the community with open arms.

Also, I have heard that Sleuth goes through cycles. There are peaks in which subscribed players can't get on to play their cases because there were so many people on that the servers would crash, or it would just run incredibly slowly. I for one don't want that. And I'm sure most people don't. Ben even cut back on advertising to cut down on the high flow of peoples coming in, playing, and never subscribing.

I have seen Sleuth grown in these last few months and weeks. If you head to Bar chat on any given SST night, there are usually quite a few people in there. Newbies pop in, we help them out, we chat, we have fun... And let me tell you, it wasn't like that in July! There are newbie coming and subscribing, and old players returning... It's wonderful!

I have worked very hard to get my detectives to where they are now. I for one, and I'm sure the majority of people agree with me, do NOT want to see all of my hard work go down the drain. Now, if you really want to get rid of a detective of yours, or get rid of a 0 xp detective that hasn't logged on in four years, sure! If Ben can get rid of those detective, and wants to, that is great! Get rid of months and years of hard work? No.

Also, I can't afford more to pay. I was lucky enough over the summer to receive a gift sub when I couldn't afford to sub myself while saving up to get a 6 mo sub. Right now, the economy is still rather bad, and most people don't have all that much to spare. If Noir is supporting itself, then I don't think Ben will be raising prices on his long time subscribers.

I d

I do think that implementing ideas from HLI's thread is a good idea, though! Not all of the ideas, but there are quite a few good ones. Like a bank acting like a bank, and Arch Nemesis Arch Villains.

Is that better? ;)

*Zipping lips on you-know-who's post, for Squirrel's sake....* :-#

One slight comment for Anais...

You may not have known or realized this, but things do tend to slow down quite a bit during the summertime. (Some of us ol' timers even tend to take a bit of a 'vacation' from time to time from Sleuth because of the fact that there's usually not as many people, especially newbies, around, and we're often not needed as much as we are during the rest of the year.)

So please don't use (not the right word there, but I can't think of a better one at the moment, sorry) the summer's lack of people and activity as a sign that Sleuth in general, and Noir in particular, are in trouble. It happens every year that I've been here (five now), and every year, things pick up again when September comes.

I'm glad to hear that you and your Agency are doing well. Hope that keeps up, and all of you continue to enjoy Sleuth. ;-D
