Or do you have to have been associating with them the way they "like" to be assosiated with. like the bartender=toughness

no no nope
after every 4 completed cases u get a favor. the completed favor counts as 1 of the four. u have to accuse correctly not quit in order to complete a case. it doesnt matter who u ask if they dont need a favor they will tell u who does and u just go to this person.

As was said in your other thread, be patient!!
there are heaps of extra helpful detectives out there willing to help you, but they are busy with their own bits and pieces! as you have seen, your questions will get answered! :-)
doing favours for a person will eventually give you contacts, but also, be patient for the contacts, it takes a bit of time. To start with, the person u are doing a favour for will give u a piece of equipment, which u can use or sell :-)

I can understand being impatient, next time when you are in the middle of a case you need help for, check who's online, ask an experience person. Most people will gladly help out in a split second.

Then they are mean. :) It is rare for this community. As you can see there are a few nice veterans answering the newbie threads. Provided you have tried to figure it yourself, and it is not in one of the more recent newbie threads....I am sure they don't mind answering.

However, as a newbie, I never asked anyone a single question. Because, it is really fun, to figure out this game by trial and error. Frankly, I miss it. :(
