Did you know there is a new movie about ole Sherlock coming out some time with in the next year? Yep its gonna have Robert Downey Jr. as the main character and Judd Law as Dr. Watson. Its supposed to be base on a graphic novel version of the detective who changed literary sleuthing. Its gonna focus on Holmes's martial abilities. I hope its gonna be good. I have been hoping for a good mystery movie for sometime. If anyone has any referals it would be greatly appreciated. Although my selection is quite thin for the time being I can always have my wife ship them to me.

Sounds interesting, but I'm a bit wary of the idea of focusing on 'Holmes's martial abilities'. I've recently re-read all the books, and whereas he does do man of action stuff it would be a pity if that aspect was emphasised at the expense of the brainwork.
Have to wait and see, I guess.

Robert Downey Jr. would make a very interesting Sherlock Holmes.
I see that the trailer is out, and yes 'focusing on Holme's martial abilities' does make it more of an action movie to suit the current audience's taste. I do hope they do have a good brainwork story line behind it, otherwise it'd be like using Sherlock Holmes' name to draw people into the theatre...

I like both of those actors. It sounded like a good combo. But I saw the trailer and wasn't so impressed. I like action a lot but Holmes is about brains and cunning. There also seemed to be an occult angle, which doesnt ring so true to me. Senances and all that were the rage back then and Conan Doyle believed in being able to contact the dead, but this looked like some vampire or zombie type thing. And I didn' t like Irene Adler wandering around in her undress. She was classy, not a tart.

Hey guys, has anyone watched the movie? I did, and as expected, it's more action then mystery, but the cinematography is amazing and it's highly entertaining. Of course, RDJ is superb. I'd give the movie as a whole a 78.

Yes, I saw it the day after Christmas. I thought it was a great movie. I agree more action than mystery but it was still nice the way everything was wrapped up at the end. Hopefully there will be a sequel!

Right. Coded business. "The fatted calf walks at midnight" "the fish has lips" and various other menacing, mysterious and obtuse clues as to the content of the movie.
-_- in short, I liked the d@*# acting.

I think perhaps Molly was talking about the person without a face, who will probably appear in the sequel? (i hope that the coded sufficiently, if not ctown feel free to delete this) Anyhow, i agree with Molly. The acting is superb.
In all honesty, i haven't read a single Sherlock Holmes novel (cue the chorus of surprised gasps), but after seeing the movie, I believe I will be harassing the local bookstores very soon.
