Hi everyone, I need your help. Are there any veterinarians here, or does anyone have a friend who is a good vet?

My daughter's dog, a 4 year old golden retriever Ruby, is very sick and has been so for about a month. Her diagnosis is a neurological disease called the steroid-responsive meningitis-arteritis (SRMA). Unfortunately the diagnosis came late, after a three weeks' treatment with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Now she is being given a (hopefully) right therapy consisting of a combination of corticosteroids and antibiotics, but she's had a relapse two days ago and can't stand on her legs at all.

I know that there are many people here who love animals and I'd appreciate your advice very much. Thank you!

I can't believe I missed this one.

I'm so sorry to here about Ruby, I hope she gets well soon.

Now I'm no vet and this may sound silly but when I was younger I had a border collie. When she got older she had to have two tumours removed and could barely walk. The vet suggested scrambled eggs and toast as a good 'comfort food' for her. I know Suzie my collie absolutely loved it. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case you wanted to give Ruby a little treat :)

Thank you girls for being so supportive.

Ruby is doing better, she shows small signs of improvement every day. She can get up without help and she even wags her tail, but she's still very shaky on her feet and tires easily. She's starting physical therapy tomorrow and we hope it will prove helpful.

Thanks for the recipe, Helen, I'm sure Ruby will love it :)

Hello dog lovers,

I have some very good news about Ruby's health. She undervent a control examination today and when she walked into the examination room unaided the vets were ecstatic. She's still not very firm on her feet, but she's getting better every day. She's showing interest in her toys, she's barking again (not in her usual contra-alto voice but in a rather funny falsetto), she has a wolfish appetite and she's even beginning to like her hydrotherapy.

I'll keep you posted if there are any "spectacular" news. Thank you all for your support.
