No charm = impossible cases

I've hit a bit of a wall it seems. I have no persuasive skills at all to get people to talk more when they clam up, so when I try an intermediate case I can only ask people one question before they stop talking. Which means alibi or further suspects but never both, making the cases impossible to solve (generally I ask alibi first so keep ending up with only two suspects, both with real alibis).

*And* my skill point rewards for easy cases has reduced to zero (is this experience based?) so saving up for sweet talk or intimidate is also not possible any more. Is there anyway out of this or will I have to start again with a new detective?

You will continue to earn skill points, although it takes more experience points to earn one - it might take several cases before you see your next one, but it will come. You do need to decide on going tough or charming, and work at getting e.g. sweettalking asap. You should also get gear that complements whichever interview style you decide on - you don't need more smart stuff at this point.
Cases also vary in difficulty within a level - so you will do ok on some intermediate cases but have everyone clam up on the next one. Don't give up hope.
that said, it might be easier to start a new agent, and balance smart with tough or charming. It will make buying those skills cheaper. Being part smart is good because you will sooner or later need all the smart skills, but you will also need either charm or tough skills too.
I would get your first level interview skills, plus basic hair and thread first. With that much, you can tackle most intermediate level cases ok.
good luck.

Also, try asking for more suspects before you ask for alibi. Once you have your list (6 or 7 I think at the intermediate level), you should still have a few that you have not asked for suspects. Then you can check your evidence and alibis of those you haven't spoken to yet. And some people may answer more than one question, you just have to ask the right ones. Make sure you get those people skills though!

Wth.. the skill points are experience based?

I was sure they were based on the difficulty of the case compared to your experience.

Man.. this is important stuff! It should've gone into the FAQ a long time ago.

This changes everything.. and I mean *everything*.
