Ok, so I had the Opening Ceremony on the TV in the background just now, even though I told myself I wouldn't watch it I think I ended up catching most of it intermittently...

... and I must admit it was quite spectacular imho. Although I can't help but wonder how big a carbon footprint it (and everything else like it) generates :P

So, in the spirit of "One World, One Dream", I challenge you all, whatever your political leanings, to dream a dream and then aim faster, higher and stronger towards it... be inspired by those athletes who are living their dream now.

... and I also challenge you to devote one more hour per week for exercise, be it swimming, football, mountain bike, dance, hiking, skating, you name it, if it gets your heart rate up, it's usually good for you. ;)

I have a dream, and I have a goal. What about you?

I'm watching the ceremonies now, and they've done a fantastic job with them. The historical part of it was just awesome!! And I always love seeing the athletes parade through the stadium! ;-D

I spent bout two hours today walking (bout an hour longer than my usual). Does that count? ;-)

My dream is to get back on a horse and ride like I did when I was a girl. My goal in the meantime is to keep improving in my health after my stroke. I've made amazing progress in the last six weeks, and hope to keep going!
;-D

So what sports d'you like to watch or participate in? Which sport did you want to be an Olympian in when you were a kid? Do we have any Olympians, past or present, here on Sleuth? ;-D

I (re)started my twice weekly lifting routine this wednesday. I hope to get back to running regularly in the next two weeks. It'll be a challenge of will... I HATE running in the heat of summer.

OH, I hate running anytime. Good for you Jesse!

Breitkat, way to go on the progress.

Alas, Topkebab, I'll have to take up your challenge later after I heal from a recent surgery. Getting up from a chair is about the most exercise I can handle right now. Believe me, it's enough for now. So, I get to watch others exercise . But I will start walking on a regular basis once I can go more than a few feet at a time.

I'm looking forward to getting to watch some of the games after work tonight and all day tomorrow. I really don't care what event, I just like watching everyone compete.

Although I hope they televise some water polo, I've never gotten to see it and I'm still wondering how they can get those horses to swim! ;-)
