What have you played most recently? How was it?

What's your favorite board/card/out of a box game of all time?

Is there a game you've heard of and would really really like to try?

Just a general discussion of old fashioned games....

My extended family sat down last night to figure out "Kill Dr. Lucky" by Cheapass Games. The first game was pretty slow but we found some rule tweaks online that really helped the rest of the games (the Spite tweak, if anyone is interested). It's a really interesting and light game that I never would have looked at twice if my brother hadn't pushed it on me.

As for favorites, we have a complicated set of homebrew Risk rules that favor strategy and malicious plotting (as opposed to the normal Risk tactic of being very lucky with dice). My favorite straight up by the original rules game has to be Wise and Otherwise.

My favorite boardgame of all time is Monopoly. Of course, everyone always accuses dear old aunt pittypat of cheating because I am so good at it.

Our family also plays Win, Lose or Draw, Scattegories, Rumikub, Skip-Bo and Scrabble.

Whenever we try to play those high-falutin technical games like Scene-It, somebody always gets all mad and quits.

We also have played some of the Mystery Dinner Theatre games that you do in your own home with about 8 people. They are alot of fun, but its kind of hard to get 8 people who are willing to come to your home at the same time, let alone dressed up and in character. My friends are a bunch of old fogies. Not much fun I'm afraid.

Well nobody probably wants to come over because if they do they will be in for a night full of getting their cheeks pinched! ;-)

My wife and I got one of those Host a Murder games gifted to us last year, but haven't yet gotten a chance to look through it.

I love Trivial Pursuit. The last board type game I played was Cranium, which was a hoot to play, especially the play dough part!

Nobody will play trivial pursuit with me, seems I know way too much useless knowledge! ;-)

Same here, so they handicap me, i.e., fill 2 pies instead of one.

they tried handicapping me as well. I had to land on the pie space to get one, they could get one anywhere

Wow I haven't played Careers in ages!

Another game I liked was Masterpiece. Remember that one? Sometimes the painting was worth a million or was a fake... I always liked the painting by Jackson Pollock. We called it tin foil.
