In order to try to make a contribution to the improvement of Sleuth Noir, I have decided to give away 5 "prices" of 1 month gift subscription to 5 different sleuths that already have or during the next period will come with the best suggestion(s) to improve Sleuth Noir on one or more following areas:
* Doing something to improve the game-speed
* Getting more people to subscribe to Sleuth Noir
* Making Sleuth Noir more fun to play
* Something else the judges approve of

So, it's time to open that creative vein of yours, and come with suggestions and post them on this board. It's no part in the judging whether the suggestion will be implemented into Sleuth Noir or not, as this is for Sleuth Admin to decide. In my eyes, it doesn't even have to be your idea originally.

Even though I haven't asked them, I had hoped that a jury of
Jojo, Stooby, Roamie, Secret Squirrel and Lady Jas would voulenteer to search out the most worthy. I would be happy if you made a reply to this posting saying whether you accept or not. Please decide among those of you accepting the task how you would like to organize. You all seem to be active on the boards, and I do trust that you will be fair. You are also free to "adjust" the important topics, but I have put down my suggestions, and what I would like to encourage. Also, decide for how long the "competition" will last. Preferably less than a month.

I myself don't have the capacity to search out and find the good recievers of a gift subscription, that's the reason why I humbly ask those mentioned to join forces and help me with the task. I would guess (but may be wrong) that the "recivers" are less than 100 days old, as the older might already have long lasting subscriptions, and one additional month would be as a drop in the sea. Also, I think that the jury themself cannot be among the "recivers".

I hope that when the jury have made their decicion, they will post it here and send me a PM with the name of the selected winners

Thank you Huglover :)

Eye Spy, I can vouch for them, fantastic group of people. They have helped me from the first day I got here and I think Ive progressed quite well.

I am at the Untouchables Huglover, and would feel abit guilty for accepting one of the new comers.

I feel that the other agencies should have their choices first. (Gosh sorry new comers for making that sound cattle marketish), If there are more newcomers than agencies applying and someone needs a home, then I will gladly provide that for them.

I know very well that you are the Untouchables. But, as far as I can see, you qualify the same way as the other hiring agencies are. You have people with that kind of experience in your agency that would enable you to help with equipment and case-solving-experience. Also, you seem to have members that are active, so that if anyone enters your agency they will not find an empty house ;-)
So, don't feel guilty, I would be happy if you gained something too, as you have been putting in quite some effort to help me :-)

Id just like to put in my 2 cents in for The Untouchables, they are a hard working bunch that being young and ambitious could very defititely help out other newbies. I spent a few days there helping them get things in order and they are a great munch to work with and Im sure any newbie would do well there and learn along with the rest

A suggestion for Sleuth...well a feature of sleuth: The good ol' Chat room.

There should be a rule banning chat speak. There is none and really should be. Also another feature should be that you can click on a user and automatically send a report to a mod.

Example:

SiCkBoY123242 is not behaving, clikc on his user name and a button would pop up (Report this User to Mod). It's more simple than going out and send a PM...just have a button.

Also, instead of having to throw something away when you get it and you're not subbed (subbed people have lockers in agencies, I think...) we should have a detective closet.

I think youll find thats one of the perks of being subscribed ..... the locker.

As I havent got a home, (Ive moved into the office), I tend to sneak my bevvies there, when the others think i'm working, there fore having no need to frequent the bar :)

But banning chat speak in a chat room.......... not sure I understand that one, have I missed something here or what? (If I have, its an age thing and really NOT my fault :-)

I cannot comment on the reporting, so would not know what is in place at the moment, how to report such people , or if in fact this is a good idea .

I just realised i'm 6th on the list. I've been contacted a few times to join an agency, but never had a subscription. :)

I don't mind trying out an agency after getting a sub.

vroom: thank you for your reply to this post.
I'll send you a month gift subscription as soon as possible.
At least I could say you will be subscribed within half an hour.

Congratulations for being active, and being the second winner of my "free subscription contest". Hope you will enjoy being subscribed :-)

(A brief explanation for the benefit of Charlotte's request....)

Chatspeak is discouraged globally (yes, pun intended ;-) on Sleuth in all the boards, not just the Chat Room, because we have detectives who come from all over the world. It's difficult for many of them to deal with English in the first place, let alone when it's in a mangled form like chatspeak or textspeak. They're doing their best to understand a difficult language, and many of us (including most of the moderators) would like to make things as easy on them as possible. ;-)

You're most welcome, Mai. ;-)

There's also the argument to be made for banning chat/textspeak that us ol' fogies aren't able to get our bifocals 'round that garblegoop, and wind up with too many migraines because of the stuff.

So please, be kind to us old fools. Pretend you're back in High School, that I'm the English Teacher from Hell, and just write your stuff out like you had to back then. It'll save us all a lot of screaming, aspirin, and trips to the optholmologist. *thumps cane, smiling wickedly* ;-D
