How frequently do you guys use the Fortune Teller and 'consult the fates'? Because i've begun to do it on each case and i feel as though i may be wasting money on it. Thanks Bunches!

hehe... I do it on practically every case... and it's not that much compared to bribes.

let me see... on an average AI case when it's really late?

Consult Fortune Teller at 10 to see if I have all suspects or not. Confirm there are only 10, go back to case.

Question next suspect, hit "Ask if he knows anyone who had a motive to commit this crime." Think 'Damn, did I have to do that?'

Visit Fortune Teller again so see if I need an 11th or not.

Visit next suspect, hit "Ask if he knows anyone who had a motive to commit this crime." Think 'Damn, did I have to do that?'

etc etc etc

When I'm doing cases below the Inc. Hard level, I generally don't bother with the F.T. But for Inc. Hard and above, the Fortune Teller is a pretty good strategy to use for me. The only time I don't is when I KNOW I've hit the maximum number of suspects in a particular case, ie. 11 in an AI case (happens every so often ;-).

I use the fortune teller whenever I hit exactly one suspect short of the limit. 10 (of 11) on Almost Impossible or Ridiculously Hard, 9 (of 10) on Stupendously Hard, etc.

The only exception is when I've reached that point and still haven't eliminated anyone through research. In that case I know the last suspect has a fake alibi but no evidence. There's no real reason to look for him or her unless the physical evidence doesn't pan out. Even then I try to flush the last suspect out by asking townies if they know anything about the case (since motive doesn't matter).
