For heavens sake!! Write somewhere (in the FAQ for example) that the skill point gain is based on experience! This is HUGE, and it's not an obvious thing!

Had I known I wouldn't have been so desperate for cash now. Also I wouldn't have so crappy skills and equipment, and most importantly I wouldn't have accumulated two false accusations in my desperation to earn more cash and skill points.

Now I have about 1500 bucks. I need about 10k to get rid of my false accusations. Also the only piece of equipment I *ever* bought with this character is a snub nosed revolver for 3k. You can do the maths yourself. I'm devastated because I didn't know that skill points were xp generated..

:'(

Fortunately I'm no quitter and I will get back up. But I am severely pissed off that I got here in the first place.

Oh by the way Fionn, I know Stooby didnt mean anything negative and was really just trying to help you, as others who have posted on the board. And about the FAQ, it would really be hard updating it to compile and gather ALL relevant information in the game. The Welcome Newbies thread is an attempt by the users to compile all this stuff and judging from what has been gathered since, I know it would be a headache for one person to go through it all, 'update' it and repost it. It really isnt anybody's fault that there isnt a 'Complete' FAQ thread out there.

Yeah, most of us dont have the threaddigging skills up to par as some others. Just enough reason for us to polish it during times when we are out of cases and bored. =)

Well this thread should act as a flag to all lol! Poitning out the fact that skill poitns are based on experience gained. I still say as your are subbed join an agency, they are often extraordianrily helpful and freindly.

And I think certian points are kept out of the offial FAQ so as to leave a bit of mystery in the game, after all it is a game about detectives...

So.. you're saying.. what? That the info shouldn't go into the FAQ? I don't get it. If there are people with an unlimited amount of time they can spend reading the boards why can't someone just copy paste any questions into a document that whoever does the FAQ can easily copy paste into the it? I'm not trying to put blame on anyone, for Christ's sake. I'm just saying "this information should be easily aquired". And the general response I get at the boards, in chat and in sleuth mail is "You're wrong. We're right. Learn to read. Learn to walk. Wipe your donkey. Search the boards". Man.. I might be a loud mouth, but honest to God I wasn't attacking anyone in particular. I was just shouting out my opinion. And you keep arguing against it? Am I not entitled to it? Is it that much to ask to have that information in the FAQ? Where on earth do I sign up to put it there myself?

You don't have to answer that last question because I already got an email adress sent to me.

But save your strength 'til when I start shouting names. Until then it's not personal.

You're right. It should be put like this:

Doing cases lead to experience points.
Experience points lead to skill points.
Skill points lead to skills.
Skills lead to a better detective.
A better detective leads to the Dark Side.

(I am rewatching Star Wars obviously since Daniel has never seen them.)

Oh, here's my story about Attack of the Clones.

So, me and all my friends got tickets to watch it on the first day it opened.

However, I ended up having to work late so couldn't go to the earlier screening that everyone went too. So, I was going to the one just after while they had dinner then we'd meet up afterward. (It was playing back to back all day and night)

Anyhow, so I get to the theatre, it's packed. Something is going on as there are Storm Troopers and all these people surrounding something. Most of the tables are filled but there is one with a lady sitting by herself.

I'd been dealing all day and standing up all day on those floors isn't the nicest thing so I asked if I could sit down with her.
She said, "yes" and we made small chat about the movie.

''So, you're going to this?'' I ask, "Or just waiting for someone?"

"Oh, I am waiting for my son, he's in the movie."

"Yeah, so are my friends, I was supposed to be in there with them but I had to work late."

"No, my son is IN the movie, he's over there signing autographs."

So, that explains the Storm Troopers then and why I can't see what everyone is crowding around, that Boba Fett was still a wee lad then.

Well, that was my story and another degree of separation to add to my list. I've meet nearly everyone in Hollywood now, degrees of separation wise.

Firstly I would like to say Fionn, Please mind your language, there are youngsters that visit this site.

Secondly, I agree with you............

If you dont know youve got a problem .......... why would you check.

If you do the search, then there is an awful lot of information to trawl through, before you may/maynot get to the answer you were looking for, to solve the problem you didnt know you had. Very time consuming.

I really do see your point :)

Maybe an update to the FAQ is needed then you guys wouldnt keep getting asked the same questions all the time...... just a thought.

Fionn,
I understand.

I asked the very same question to a woman who had worked on a Sean Penn film. She had touched Jack Nicholson.

(And spoken to them both of course.. but saying, "I've touched someone who touched Jack" is more exciting.)
