Getting physical (evidence)

I keep finding a lot of physical evidence, but it seems that more often than not it points to suspects with valid alibies. What in the world are they doing at the crime scene? What kinda crime scene is that? A %#&! highway? Because everyone seem to go "Yay, puddle!" and jump in the blood. Then they go "Aw man. I ruined my new shoes!" and they pull their hair in anguish. Then they go "Hay Ima write some stuff on a piece of paper and leave here. Hee hee. No reason really."

Gah..

I can't remember when I had a PE point to the murderer last time. I've had so many notes and footprints and hair (not much threads though) that I can tell it ain't pointing where it should. Worst was when I had three notes and they all pointed to the only three people with valid alibies.

Well, only one piece of PE can match a suspect who has a fake/no alibi. It's not entirely realistic, and it is frustrating sometimes, but that's how the game works.

LOL!!! Loved your post! Here's the scoop:

All the suspects have connections to the victim, be it one of their relatives, their lover, their bookie, etc. so all of them quite easily could have been at the crime scene for various legitimate reasons just maybe not exactly at the time of the murder. And while they were there they just happened to be leaving footprints and shedding hairs for a skilled detective to find later. Not to mention all their clothing seeming to unravel in small bits onto the floor.

And not all victims are gunned down in the street, you know, where it would be odd to find three notes. Don't let the crime scene pictures fool you. You pick up whatever's there when you show up. And you don't know if that infamous note in the victim's bedroom could been left there last week or ten minutes before the crime occurred.

You just have to sort through it all and figure it out like the clever detective that you are. As your skills and gear improve, it will get easier. I promise. :)

I'm playing a tough/charm type at the moment so, it will take some time before my smarts skills improve. Anyway.. what about all those bloody footprints that point to other people than the murderer? Really bad chafe?

Ahh... my favorite type of detective, both tough and charming. As long as you have the basic smarts, hair and thread, to add to the basic notes and footprints you already get, don't worry too much about the rest of the smart skills until you get your negotiation skills in order. Make research a first priority though! It will help you a lot. Fit other smart skills in when you have the chance and feel the need. People may disagree with me, but you can know everything in the world about those footprints, but if the shoemaker won't talk to you, it won't do you any good in the slightest.

And about those bloody footprints ... who really knows? Like a bad traffic accident that people stop to gawk at, the victim's friends seem uncontrollably drawn to the corpse. They can't help themselves, they just have to keep walking all around him, staring, writing obscure notes. But unfortuately, they seem to get their shoes a little messy in the process. Every once in a while though, the footprint does happen to belong to the actual murderer, so don't rule it out.

Everyone knows that when you find someone lying around you must poke it with your foot to see if it's alive or dead.

No, no, thats not for people. You poke your toe at alligators to see if they're dead or just sleeping.

No, no, no. Everybody KNOWS that when you find a dead body, you are supposed to roll it and move it about, just on the off-chance they are lying on a hundred dollar bill, or maybe a Rolex, or something. Sheesh, people.

As for alligators, the best way to find out if they're sleeping is to throw something at them. Preferably someone who runs slower than you do.

Hey, who wants to go for a walk down by the lake with me? *beams*

It was a rainy, summer night and I was sitting in the kitchen of my apartment. I was considering getting a cup of tea when I noticed the physical evidence thread had been hi-jacked. I sighed to myself and scratched my head. Maybe I needed that cup of tea anyway.
