Gear or Evidence ?

It seems backward entirely, but when I put on gear that increases smarts, I find less information than back before I earned any of it, and it seems silly to have thread or hair analysis and only FIND thread or hair, but no information about them.
It's also true that since obtaining these skills, neither the barber nor the shoe maker will ever identify anything, only the banker and the tailor.
Is this common?

The smart gear only helps you find evidence at a crime scene. Tough or Charming gear will help you talk to your suspects and townies.

I know. I mean that as smart gear increases, the helpful description of what is found decreases.

Do you have advanced hair & thread analysis, or just the plain ol' regular skills? The basic versions only guarantee finding the evidence, not getting its detailed description (even with advanced and top notch smart gear you can still miss this sometimes).

Have you gone up a level in case difficulty or anything like that?

That's about all I've got here. I have a hunch that your difficulty with the crime scene details and the townies are probably just a random rough streak and should even out as you play; I've never heard of anything like that before.

I hope it's just a streak, though it's an awfully long one.
It's just the regular skills, but honestly, before caring about smart gear or skills, it would typically say something about the evidence found whereas now it does not.
What made me notice was going DOWN in case difficulty and finding less.
Thanks.
