Wrong Clue (Im New)

I made one account and I bought Hair Analysis and Advanced Hair Analysis. Then, a townie needed a favor and so I took the case. I found a hair on the crime scene and on examination it turned out to be a curly hair. In the end, I was down to two suspects (the others having been cleared by alibis) which is where my problem starts. Both my suspects had straight hair, heck, all my suspects had straight hair. My question now is whether that hair evidence was planted or not? Im new so I dont know whehter it was an actual mistake in the game or planted evidence does exist to throw you off the case. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks.

In the evidence that you find one will belong to the killer and the rest will belong to people with real alibis.

If all your suspects had straight hair you had not yet found all of the possibe suspects as each piece of evidence does match a suspect in the case.

Its possible you didn't have all the evidence. Especially if you don't have the basic thread skill. While there are multiple pieces of evidence in a case, only one will belong to the killer. The other(s) will belong to people with real alibis.

In beginner, easy, and intermediate cases there are always two pieces of evidence. The second piece of evidence was very likely a thread, which you didn't find because you don't have basic thread yet.

There are three ways to find your guilty suspect:

Physical evidence (PE) + fake/no alibi = guilty
Witness evidence (WE) + fake/no alibi = guilty
WE + WE = guilty

So if physical evidence failed to identify the killer, you could have asked each supsect if they suspected anyone had a motive to kill the victim (WE), and used that to capture your killer.

Every case has at LEAST two pieces of evidence. It sounds like you only found one (the curly hair). This means your second piece was probably a thread, like CFM indicated. If all of your suspects that you found had straight hair, then you also weren't able to find enough suspects, because ONE of the people in the case would have matched that curly hair (whether or not the person was guilty is another story, as the people above have stated.

As you gain some more experience, and work some more cases, things will get easier. It doesn't seem like it now, I know, but things do get better. You're doing great!! Keep trying. ;-)

Thanks a lot for your insights. I am now certain it was more a game mistake then wrong note taking. I was thinking of taking screenshots so I could have pictures to back it up, but I was too lazy to go through all the process of uploading and such =P. Oh, I forgot to mention that I ended up guessing on that case, and I guessed right. It was an easy case too. I had 5 suspects. Paying 20 dollars to the fortune teller confirmed that all actors have taken the stage. And yes, I did double, no triple checked everyone and all clues and it was evident all the suspects had straight hair. Only reason I am a bit pissed off is because as I said I am new and I spent a lot of points in Hair Analysis thinking itd be an asset. But its ok, guess this is a mistake in the case. I just hope I dont encounter more of this in the future. Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am gonna subscribe as soon as I get my paypal account working. Good sleuthing.

But if the hair was your only piece of evidence, that's not a game mistake. If you don't have basic thread, then the second piece of evidence must have been a thread, which you didn't detect because you don't have that skill. So it's not a mistake in the game, it's that you didn't uncover all the evidence becuae you don't have all your basic smart skills yet.

Thanks. Its starting to make sense now. I now realize that there are 2 PE per case. I hope my enthusiasm on this game doesnt rub off. Id like to play this till next year. =)
