Making a twist useful

Just had a case with the twist where the police haul some poor sod off as the perp. As it turns out, that person was innocent. In the case closing, I was told that the person was very grateful to me for clearing their name.

I know most of the twists are there for "colour", but I thought it would be nice if this oh-so-grateful person would throw me a little extra reward. Maybe some more experience points (based on the level of the case), or a few extra dollars; nothing huge. And since the twist you get is basically a crap shoot, it can't (I think) be exploited. Also, sometimes that person does turn out to be guilty, so you wouldn't get the extra reward every time you got the twist.

Just a thought.

What Ho, Dear Lady!

This is an excellent idea - it shouldn't take a lot of tweaking by Our Glorious Leader, and would make the twists a lot more interesting - it would be like getting a "Community Chest" card ("you have just won second prize in a beauty contest....) There could be some very rare rewards as well, just to spice things up.

Sterling work, Anikka.

You know, I like this.

Another thought on this would be for people to write twists related to the intros...just so that we can see how the story turns out. Endings as well would be interesting.

I've been trying to think of something that the kidnapped newspaperman twist could do. I don't know if this is possible, but:

When you save the reporter that has been kidnapped, perhaps in gratitude he could give you an "extra" research. That extra research could be used once, during any case you choose, but maybe would have to be used during that day's cases. And it wouldn't be a given that you would get the reward, perhaps it would only be a one in four chance that you get it, or something like that.

I like your idea, AndreaX. Considering the randomness of intros and twists, would that be possible? Because it really would bring cohesiveness to a case.

Being as I am a complete goober when it comes to programming, I have no idea how hard this would be to implement. But it was a thought...

What about the twist where you fall in love with the client and at the end of the case it says you two became life-long friends... I always sort of wanted that to mean something...

That life-long friends/lost love ending would be hard to get some long term benefit from due to the random nature of cases.
