Gaining contacts vs travel

I have one contact in NY, and am accumulating experience points to gain my second.

What would happen if I was to travel to another city before I had my second contact, and returned to NY later? Would that affect the time/experience required to gain that second contact, or does the game somehow "remember" the work I put in previously?

Gaining a contact is random. The ratio contacts/reward in favors seems to be something like 3 rewards/1 contact (sometimes it's more...). Gaining both contacts in a city before to travel, or gaining them one after another in any cities is the same. That's just a question of money and cases spent to travel. Since it's totally random the game doesn't remember anything, that's all about luck.
I hope I have answered your question.

Oh I forgot...I noticed your nickname has the same initials as mine: D D.
Funny coincidence :)

Donnie there is no specific ratio for how long you need to get a contact. It is completely randomly generated.

Just ask poor Greyling, I think she's STILL trying to get her contact in Shanghai or something like that.
