I'm getting hints to ask people that I can't even find on my map... What am I doing wrong?

Ceana, this is part of the challenge of the game. Ask for other people with motives (ie, people who will then show up as suspects on your list) /before/ you ask for alibi.

There are other ways of dealing with an unknown alibi if the suspect clams up before you get an answer on that question, but there is no other way to get a suspect on your list.

Hence the priority of the question!

I had a favor today.. one suspect.. First question I asked was if he knew motives.. he clammed! So no other suspects.! And then I went back just for the hell of it to see him.. and he was killed LOL.. Sometimes it is just not ment to be!

Thanks Moonshh. I have finally learnt that. Yeah, sometimes I'll turn something up in my research on a suspect who clammed. Had a favor today where 2 clammed on the alibi, but I had 2 pieces of p.e., 1 was a note from a righty; only 2 rightys. Found him. He had an airtight alibi, so I got him to sing. He fingered one of my clams. Looked into my footprint and bang! Found a pearl. FP belonged to one of my clams. Muhahahaha!!
Erhmm. I mean, what jolly good luck. ::grin::
