On other threads the discussion about how many cases you can turn in is happening.

The idea that there is a rule that you can only have 2 detectives in an agency seems to be a false one to me.

If you can access every detective in the agency because you have their password then do you control all of them?

Just so everyone knows i deleted my own post above. I did so because i do not think it would help the situation at present. Now, i do think that we all need to calm down considerably and realize that this game is about the community and the people involved in it and not who is on top of the high scores list or has solved the most hunts.

Bickering and telling people to come and personally attack you will not get anything solved nor will it improve the community. I hope that no one will actually respond to you roamie.

The issue in THIS thread is: What does controlling mean? Ben has stated that (quoted from the link woody2 provided)
2) A single player should not control more than 2 single detectives within any given agency. This has always been the semi-official policy, but I will start to enforce it more regularly.

This rule raises questions because it is not clear. Is control defined by who subscribes an agent? Or is control defined by who logs in as an agent?
Can we only subscribe 2 agents but ‘control’ 10 through password sharing? Or, can we only control those two agents we create?

Good point, Arabella. What is control all about?

The way I see it.....if you subscrive and pay money you're a customer and bought yourself a product. Now, if two customers decide to share the products they bought with eachothern what could be the problem in that?

Are can other customers decide for you what you should do with the product you bought?

BadAss and Arabella..spot on. I think that it is nearly impossible to define control. All agencies exercise a different amount and type of control (as far as I know) and all are equally 'correct' or 'ethical' in my opinion. It would be a daunting task (even for the best Sleuth!) to find out who is abusing the " controlling two detectives" rule. How could you discern if an agency was password sharing for hunt favors or for assembly line case output? What about house detectives--used when newbies are scarce and a position needs to be filled?
So many questions.....lol.

I'm not too bothered about password sharing, although in solving treasure hunts it does give an advantage to those who do over those who don't.

In my agency I don't know anyone else's passwords but we leave cases we aren't going to solve ourselves on the case file for others to take. That is surely a perfectly legitimate way to solve more cases than one's own allocation and could take you up to 12 + 5*(number of detectives in agency - 1) cases in a day.

... plus the requisite number of favor cases.

Putting a limit of 32 would interfere with this non-password-sharing-case-expansion method.

I totally agree with Evita, case files are there for use and it is (as I see it) a legitimate way of playing. I have also personally found that playing sleuth for xp only is just boring and it takes the fun out of sleuth.

And Ciara you have to be a mod to delete posts.

Due to some very touching personal emails I've received, I feel compelled to come here 1 last time to post these sentiments -
The underlying sentiment behind all of this is the speculation of whether I/we (ERF TEAM) were 'cheats' because of how we played the game. I say this, and I'll will dare each and everyone who 'assumed' we were to call me a liar about this, NOT A SINGLE ONE OF YOU EVER ASKED ME WHAT WAS GOING ON IN MY AGENCY! Now, you will know -

Bariscelik77 - 26years old from Azerbijan, got thrown into forced military duty not 1 month after just getting married! His country sent him to Pakistan to be part of the combat forces there. In a 5 part pm expressing his feelings, and mostly his fears, implored me to keep him in the team so that when (if was his word) he came home, he would feel he hadn't let us down...

Por.Borewicz - (not sure of his age), from Poland, had almost the same thing happen to him, and his last request was to remain in ERF TEAM....

Emerald Drew - fortunately, her operation went well, but before she had it, she was fearful of the worst. thank God it went well, but had it not, I would have kept her in ERF TEAM for eternity, regardless of the subscription status.

Murderstern - his day job entails book making and publishing, and his firm happens to handle making schoolbooks for children. Naturally, right before the school year started, he was extremely busy and overworked, so he 'asked me' (not that he had to) if he could take time away from Sleuth yet still be in the team....

What would you do in those situations? I chose to honor the wishes of some very honorable friends and team mates, and I hope all of you would do the same!

Rules exist as guidelines, but there are always, and should always be, gray areas, because life doesn't exist by 'our' rules, we exist by life's rules.
