I think I'd rather die in exile than get poisoned by hemlock, so Ovid for me. Besides, I like my reading to be escapist rather than practical.

Ouch, that's a nasty one. I suppose if it came to it, losing Rome. Rome spread its culture and architecture, so something would remain, but there's only one Venice.

As much as I enjoy plopping on the couch or in the theatre to watch a movie, nothing tops the escapism and act of conjuring up images that reading allows. Always read the book first :)

Zebras of course! They're fashionably monochrome (very Noir) and they inspired the zebra crossing. Nothing against horses though.
