dying poodles a variety of colours (so that you end up with one pink poodle, one blue poodle etc.) i've seen this before!

Not into it - hey, it might look good when you've done it, but being up to your elbows in dye and wet dog sounds like a lot of effort. And what if the colour runs in the rain?
