Elsey walks into the local bar, The Tricky Mister, and asks her old buddy Cyrus to pour her a drink.
"Something girly," she asks him. "Something the boys will laugh at."
She smiles and looks around the room. She thinks about who else might walk into the room tonight. She turns back to her girly drink and waits for Sir James to arrive, as he undoubtedly will at some point.
Just then, the front door opens and in walks....

Makinsie looks at DaRu confused as she says, "but when you were telling us you knew all about the guy I saw with rugged features, you never said anything different, then when the guy dancing with jstkdy walked in, you pointed out that it was him, which really confused me.....Dang girl" Makensie gulps a big swig of her drink down, then waits for DaRu to explain.......DaRu, looking a bit confused herself doesn't really know how to explain it but tries her best to,"All I know is there were two guys, one rugged handsome lookin' fellow, and this neat dressed man in a suit, who was holding a black aligator bag, & appeared to be a doctor, and was eyeballing jstkdn at Sami's. When you mentioned the rugged guy, I just said, Oh yeah I know him and his name, because he use to be a client of mine and"....but when DaRu continued to talk.....Dr. Loofah interrupts DaRu and says, "Oh yeah, I know who the doctor is out on the floor dancing with jstkdn, cause I attended medical school with him and he........

is very very nice and quite the gentleman" Dr Loofah says. Makensie is so confused she just doesn't know what to think. Makensie says,in interest of the tall, ruggedly handome man, since she is sucker for them types, "Where did the ruggedly handsome guy go? Down the alley? I must know who he is....that is my mission in life to find the tall rugged stranger" Daru laughs and says "Makensie, any man who is tall,dark and ruggedly handsome would do for you,not just THAT guy" Makensie says "True but he is the only I've seen so far" Makensie watches Jstkdn and this attractive man on the dance floor dance the night away. Makensie says "Im jealous" and shoves a big fat piece of chocolate in her mouth,feeling very bloated. Makensie makes sure to double her exercise tomorrow. Instead of walking to the towns people, she will run.

Daru goes up to the bar to try and get Cyrus out of his bad mood, when suddenly,the bar seems to be getting very busy. In walks...

Sami, whose waving a stainless steel clever in the air, while shouting in anger, "DaRu, how dare you order Red Snapper, then leave without eating one bite of it, or even offering to pay for it. I hope you know that I had to throw it out to the alley cats, which are all over the place now. Do you think I caught that snapper out of my toilet stool?, well I think not women. With that the whole bar explodes in laughter, all except DaRu, who hasn't taken her eye off the clever he's still waving about, DaRu takes off in a mad dash and leaps across the counter top and hides behind Cyrus, who is now holding a gun out of sight. As Sami draws closer, still ranting on, DaRu whispers in Cyrus ear, "Cyrus, what in the heck am I going to do? I've never seen Sami act this way before. It's almost as if he's strung out on drugs or completely gone mad," Yeah, I noticed, and I'm not going to see if he uses that clever before I do something about it," replies Cyrus...."Well, I'm not going to hang around to find out,......I'm going to make a run for it," DaRu counts, "1, 2, 3, go", then takes off like a scalded dog to the front door, where she crashes headon into.... into..........

....The Mad One.
(You were looking for tall dark and handsome and look what you got, Oh well one out of three aint bad)
The Mad One staggers before recovering. With a graceful bow he stand DaRu to one side then distracts Sami by throwing a basket of amphibious piranha at him. While Sami extricates himself from the feeding frenzy The Mad One scoops DaRu up in his arms and carries her to safety the only place Sami wouldn't dare go.....

As The Mad One is putting Daru down,and Sami is almost free of that piranha, Makensie makes sure that Sami is done....Makensie takes her perfume bottle, and sprays Sami in the face. "Now, you get out of here right now and don't you come back until you apologize for your weird actions, u slime ball" Sami walks away,very sore from the piranha bites,and half blind from the mace in his eyes.. *Shaking bottle* Makensie realizes she has to go get a refill before anything else happens. Daru says, "Mak, that was real cool how you backed up The Mad One but, maybe it wasn't the mace that scared Sami, it might've been all that chocolate thats all over your mouth" Makensie turns red in embarrassment, and smacks Jstkdn playfully on the arm,and says "Why didnt you tell me I had chocolate on my mouth b4 I turned into 'she-woman' (u know, like He-Man heehee) Makensie takes a napkin and wipes her mouth and heads to the shop that fills her bottle, and hollers at Cyrus..."Cyrus, I will be back later to pay my tab" Cyrus, who is still in a bad mood, says "Yeah yeah yeah, you better!"

As Makensie is walking out, Cfm is walking in and...

Sits quietly in the corner and finishes all the chocolate. Now with everybody away, busy dancing with tall handsome dark strangers, pirana's and the like.

Then CFM notices something strange between the chocolates...

...Its a small brass tube with a cap on each end. Jstkdn unscrews the cap off one end and tips out a rolled up piece of paper and a heart shaped golden locket on a fine gold link chain. She opens the locket to see a picture of Mackensie and .........
The paper has a message written on it.......

Jstkdn opens the locket to see a picture of Mackensie and Jack Scarpetta.

Cfm sets down her glass of water and unfurls the paper, reading it softly, glancing at Jstkdn between the words with a confused look on her face, "Tuesday, 3:00am, behind the diner, come alone."

A bit dazed and confused as she examines the locket cfm says, "I knew Makensie was friendly with La Cosa Nostra, but...Jack Scarpetta?"

Taking the paper from cfm, Jstkdn reads the note herself and calls Makensie over to the table....
