Woah. This guy wants to charge me $20,000 instead of the $800 or so before, what gives? Does this mean you should just clear stuff early on? This is painful.

Chuck- the price was higher because you had more experience, not because there were two false accusations.

is there a way to solve more cases, even after your 4 a day?

You can ask if any of the townspeople want you to do them a favour. Those aren't counted towards your 4 daily mysteries, I think?

Apart from that, it's strictly 4 a day. And personally, I still think that's a good thing. Stops the game addiction from seriously disturbing your life, and puts everyone in an equal position despite of how much time they are able to spend online.

I vote for limiting the amount of mysteries a day.

The shady character is getting really greedy on me now ... $45000 or so. At this point I'm worried that he's increasing the price faster than I could ever earn money to pay him off in case I get a second false accusation. ?

What do you think would be a reasonable amount for him to charge you, at your level?

I was just guessing how much money somebody in your situation would have when I set up the formula. I still figure it should be a lot of money. Say, the amount you could expect to earn from 4 days work or so.

Four days' worth of pay does sound reasonable. But even with solving incredibly hard cases, I think that only comes out to around $10000 in wages (I may be wrong).

Is the fee based on experience points, or the difficulty level someone is probably working on? Since someone with 500000 experience points and someone with 100000 experience points will work on the same cases (incredibly hard) and still make the same amount of money, it seems that they shouldn't be charged differently by the shady chracter.

I'm only at around 13000 exp, but I felt worried about the same thing. I already had 2 false accusations and ultimately switched down to doing really hard cases instead of really really hard until I'd earned enough - you get only half the exp, but much more than half the money. I don't know if that's what you'd like the system to push players towards, though. The price just seemed to climb very rapidly, from 12000 to 16000 in the time I spent saving for the Shady Character (=less than a week).

I think 4 days' pay in itself sounds reasonable, but do take into consideration that the Shady Character's price keeps going up during those 4 days.
