I have a few points positive with La Cosa Nostra. How do I meet their leader?

Another ques: How do I contact the faction group to ask about someone on a hideout. e.g. I have good standing with order of socrates and went to ask in the mayor's office but there was no option to ask about the missing person.

Louise, the answer to your first question is that to meet the 'don' of la cosa nostra, you go to the real estate agency, if you are above zero with them.

The second answer is that only townies can tell you where a missing person is, if they dissappear in your case. The mayor, on behalf of the OS can start you on a treasure hunt, but you must be subbscribed and an agency member to participate in hunts. There is a skill which automatically finds 'lost' suspects but it is available only through the eastern triads who are in London and Shanghai, and you must be subbed to travel there.

Thanks very much .
So does that mean the only advantages of factions are a special skill each and availability of some expensive items? (If you are unsubsribed that is)

Yes, for the most part the only advantage of factions if you are unsubbed is getting the special skill they offer and purchasing some very expensive items that can be gotten through favors. Subbed detectives use factions to start treasure hunts, and some skills they offer are only useful in treasure hunts (La Cosa Nostra's safe cracking is an example).

There is one other advantage to factions available to the detective with the highest faction standing for the day, but it is kept secret.

Actually, some items can only be received from a faction...and the better you know them, the lower the cost is for that item. :)
