Sometimes in some games, they have a notice that comes up that someone tried to shoot you, or someone tried to throw a knife at you. Does that mean anything; like, if you continue the case, you're in danger or something? Or is it just for 'dramatic emphasis'?

You have it, on the Random Mysteries it is only for Dramatic Effect.

The twists to watch for are the ones that involve Factions.

Also when in NY there can be a Larry/Lucy twist. Lots of debate over that one.
