the Sleuth helper lists somethign called twists- stuff like seeing a ghost or the one with the women going theres something more to [ insert victim name ] than meets the eye.

when u complete a case with the train twist it saids stuff like that women was following the killer around cuz he was a member of a club that was an offshoot of the Order of Socrates. sooo i'm wondering whats that all about?

is there a reason to continue or abandon investigationS?

There are two twists in the game that have an effect on the game. The first is the one where your faction standings are affected--the one with the lady with the magnifying glass. If you are trying to get "in" with a particular faction, you'll need to pay attention to those twists, because they may affect your standing with that faction--you may want to quit a case where your faction standing is lowered.

The second twist which might matter to you is the one where Larry the Toe offers to tell you where Lucy's Cabaret is for $500. If you are in an agency and involved in a treasure hunt, you may need that information.

Other than these two, the twists are primarily for entertainment, and there is no need to quit cases based on them.

But some of them are kinda funny though... "I was falling in love with Agnes Bedenbaugh..."

How about the Shady twist? The one where you meet Shady during the case? Does that one have any special effect, or is it just for show?

Nope, just for entertainment. The two mentioned above are the only twists that "matter."
