WARNING GAME SPOILER!!

If you wish to enjoy the adventure of figuring out this game on your own, DO NOT read the rest of this post.

If you are too lazy to read through a page or two of threads to see if your question has already been asked a zillion times, then PLEASE read this first!

Welcome to Sleuth, and your new addiction.  There is no cure, so just accept it and enjoy it! Here are a few tips and hints that you should find helpful, and are among the FAQ of the newbie boards.

First, a great place to FIND ANSWERS and cool history threads about Sleuth is in the Moderator Picks Board. The Mods have picked out their favorite bits and made them easy to find. In addition to personal favorites, try looking over the Newbie FAQ. This can be found on the bottom of most pages as a tiny little grey link. Also the Help file at the upper right of most screens is packed with little useful tidbits.

HOW DO I SOLVE a case? First off…we recommend that you try the tutorial found on the front of the case page. It won’t count against your daily caseload, and it will give you an idea of how the game works. It’s not set up to walk you through the most efficient course through the game, but to show you how the game works, leaving you to find your own strategy. The following formulas will help you find your murderer.

PE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
WE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
2 WE = guilty

PE=Physical Evidence WE=Witness Evidence

Having a clammed suspect that will not give you an alibi is not the same as a fake/none alibi.

PE+WE DOES NOT = Guilty

Absolute newbie here, I've just read through this whole thing April to October, a lot of good information, but slightly confuzling. I just need help with the lingo you are all using. Thread? is that just a line of thought? and what's this stickyness you all talk about? You know? sticking the comment? and what do you mean by bumping? are you just saying that or is there an actual way to emphisize the quote? And is there anyway to keep people from clamming?

Hiya Choco -welcome!

Let's see...

-By thread we're referring to a line of conversation or postings here on the message board. For example, you posted these questions on the "Welcome Newbies" thread, on the "Newbie Questions" message board.

-These threads are organized such that those most recently active are seen first. As a result of this, sometimes important threads are moved into relative obscurity...say the 3rd or 4th page of a particular board. To make a thread sticky is to give it a special status that ensures it remains visible at the top irrespective of activity on other threads.

-Bumping was the strategy to keep this thread near the top before it was made sticky. By posting "bump" (or whatever) people were keeping the thread active so that new people would see it on page one. No longer an issue.

-There is no way to KEEP people from clamming, but much of the strategy is about delaying and avoiding clam ups by asking more important questions first. There are also lots and lots of skills you can buy which give you more chances to question people before they clam, and one skill which occasionally gives you an opportunity to get more information from someone who has shut up on you.

Hope that helps. Happy sleuthing!

No! No one can kill you but yourself...

If you make 3 false accusations your character will be retired. Its the closest we have to being killed :P
So dont guess! and if you made 2 falses go to the bar and clear your record.

Yes you can. When the lady with the the magnifying glass appears it will tell you how it will affect your political standings. When you have a +1 with La Costra Notra you can sart doing 'little jobs' which will improve your standing with them. Hope this helps. <:o)X

Each faction is different they have different skills and equipment. I find that the Eastern Triads, Order of Socrates, Green Hand and Circle of Light have the best skills.
Hope this helps :)
