As a real life private investigator, I've noticed that a great deal of the duties that come with the profession aren't listed. I know this game tries to stick with the whole film noir theme (and does a great job of it), but I think for the sake of investigators who want to make some chump change to pay their sketchy bar character tab, there should be alternative cases to the standard murder investigation. I'd like to see more cases about cheating spouses, thieves, tracking down information about people for clients, and perhaps some surveilence jobs. At the moment I only have a free account, so I'm not aware what other types of jobs are available to subscribed members; but I still think it would be nice if the cases had a bit more variety.

After all, how many of these poor NPC's have to die each year? ;)

I think searching for a serial killer would be fun. I also like the option of doing a favor for shady or paying up; His fees seem to rise faster than I can make money. For instance, I worked on a Ridiculously Hard case worth $750; That does not include paying townie bribes, after solving the case I actually made $250. At my level a false accusation = $25k

I like the idea about doing a favour for [or including] Shady in the case scenarios. Perhaps something along the lines of Larry in New York, where Shady comes up spontaneously in the game and you have to do an [incredibly?] hard [harder?] favour for him and he then owes 'you' a favour. Which might be clearing your debt if your a beginner and then can be adjusted with the more experince you get to just become a % discount on your 'shady bill'. Obv. it would clear each time you use the favour. OK there's some holes in this theory, but I still like the idea of Shady being involved. [LOL no ulterior motive I'm debt free ;) ]

It could even become more hilarious if Shady turns out to be a serial killer himself and has to bribe his way out himself -LOL!!!

I enjoyed reading this thread. I think these are all terrific ideas, such as the serial killer and other cases Jack suggested. Maybe I'll get better--I sure hope so. But as I said in another thread, my batting average is s50%, and my detective is about to go away.

Kidnapping Case:

By solving the case, you not only get the reward money, but, also, a gift from the person who was kidnapped. Of course, these types of cases would have to be quite rare in the random case files. Too many of them can lead to too many gifts (and money) for one detective.

The idea about the hunt for the serial killers is thrilling, and I like Bad's suggestion that it should be the result of the effort of a single detective and not of a group. That would be different from the existing treasure hunts, and it could be done as a favour to Shady or to a client.
