I've checked the other threads and couldn't find an answer. I entered the same question into another area but stupidly forgot where.

Is it common to have a non-evidence contact that doesn't know anything......ever? I've had the butcher for about 32 cases now and have never gotten any information and I check with every case.

Does it really help if a shopkeeper says "so and so thinks they know"? Once you narrow down the suspects you may ask well ask everybody about them until each stops talking.

well, the ones that know will actually tell you of someone. i think if a suspect doesn't know, they might not suspect anyone.

That could be true, but it doesn't hurt to ask them anyway, does it?

I have learned to trust - "doesn't know anything". Although the ones who "think they know" will have an opinion, it is as likely to be wrong as right - so I don't seek that info anymore. I only ask my townies if they know anything if I have extra time to kill, and/or the question is free (like to my contact)

What I actually meant was that my contact, after 40 cases has never known anything about any of the cases.
