Common Problem?

I've checked the other threads and couldn't find an answer. I entered the same question into another area but stupidly forgot where.
Is it common to have a non-evidence contact that doesn't know anything......ever? I've had the butcher for about 32 cases now and have never gotten any information and I check with every case.

i never use my non-evidence contact for anything more than alibis.

So in essence they are useless unless you have 4 suspects with your contact as an alibi?

Aha, but you are able to ask them if they know anything about the case, and if they tell you that a certain suspect "thinks they know who the murderer is.." then you can ask that person about those you've narrowed it down to, and if your contact tells you that a certain suspect "doesn't know anything.." then you know that questioning them about who they might suspect is useless.

But if they tell you that a certain suspect thinks they know who the killer is that doesn't actually mean they do, right? At least that's what I've found.

Does it really help if a shopkeeper says "so and so thinks they know"? Once you narrow down the suspects you may ask well ask everybody about them until each stops talking.

well, the ones that know will actually tell you of someone. i think if a suspect doesn't know, they might not suspect anyone.

That could be true, but it doesn't hurt to ask them anyway, does it?
