More than 3?

Heya, first post so take it easy on me =)

Are there ever more than 3 suspects on the Hard level? I was under the impression that there are only 3 up till Really Hard. If there are only 3, is it possible there is a bug sometimes? I had three solid suspects, used my research, knocked one of the three out, knocked the other one out through questioning and hair pieces. So logically, I guessed the last one. Well apparently, he wasn't it either. In fact, it was someone else that wasn't one of my three. When I find three suspects, I quit checking the rest of their alibis, I figure its a waste of questions. I'm not perfect, so I guess I could have wrote down the wrong name in my notes, but outside of that, has anyone ran across anything like this?

Thanks,

Ben Matlock *wink*

Fortune Teller... something about Journey into Darkness?? Heaps to find. The Signposts one- less to find. The Final lines- none to find.

Ahh...Thanks LED =)

Ok I just did a little test here. I started an Intermediate case. 7 suspects, 3 of them have verbally said that they have no alibi. I didn't go and verify the other suspects alibis because I already had 3 "real" suspects. (I hope this makes sense) So I check out my crime scene (I do this last forsome odd reason) I wrote down my "clues", and then proceded to city hall to do a little research. It gave me the name of someone else that was not one of my 3 none alibi list. I thought this was odd since I already had 3 "real" suspects. So I checked out the alibi, that I already knew was ok by the research, to see what it said. The priest said"XXXX was not here". Now, wouldn't this give me 4 "real" suspects? Technically only 3 sense I researched it, but if no research, 4, right? Sleuth Helper might be wrong like has been said, so I guess Reda could help me out here =)

Since this is an Intermediate case, I would have thought that 3 "real" suspects are the max. Now this whole scenario leads me to think, that when I run out of "talking" options with townspeople to prove an alibi, or when run out of "talking" options with the suspects and I can't get an alibi, this might make them a "real" suspect that research will find out for me. Which is fine, except I could see a possible problem later on when I run out of "talking" options with people, but I find the number of "real" suspects(those with fake/none alibis). I don't always have enough talking options to convince someone to keep talking to prove an alibi and get other information from them also. So I generally work around it by asking the least amount of questions to get the information needed. Now, if I have to "physically" prove all the alibis, even when I have the correct number of fake/none alibis, this could really give me a headache later on, since I won't be able to "physically" prove them all.

Could the cases possibly be labeled wrong by any chance?

I hope this makes sense.

Fortuneteller has 3 responses I have found.

If you ask too soon he says you have just begun.

If you are close but still someone missing (one or two) he says you have passed many signposts

If you have uncovered everybody he says all the actors have entered the stage for good or ill.

at $20 its a bargin if you hold off asking til you are at X vs X+1.

...and $20 is a bargain compared to what shady asks for, so use the fortune teller when in doubt.

Matlock, I just did a little testing and apparently Intermediate cases can have both 3 AND 4 suspects with fake alibis (before using research) - must admit I'm totally stunned, I've never noticed an unfixed number of fakes on any of the levels before (not even Almosts although I can see the Helper claims so). I'm racking my brain to come up with a logical pattern for this level but can't really find one - well, at least it shows that your case wasn't labelled wrong :)

Greyling, if it helps, the same thing has happened on Hard for me a few times recently.

*looks at cfm with a look of confusion and wonders who is this "Ben"? Must be the man behind the curtain*

At least I know I'm not copletely crazy now. I was starting think I had completely lost it. haha

Could also be that Ben didnt like the fact that I gave my list to anyone who wanted it and he went and change the numbers to confuse us :P
