I'm not sure if I'm the only newbie that thinks of these things, but how do the bonuses work for smart skills? I only have one advanced smart skill, should I bother with getting higher smarts if I am angled towards tough skills?

As a tough/smart detective, should I focus on all my bonuses on toughness or split it evenly with smart? It seems less useful if I split my efforts though...

If anyone can share a little on these strategies, that would be great.

You'll definitely need advanced smart along with tough. Eventually judge of character will also become important and you may ant to invest in charm also.

But for now I'd say both tough and smart should be the focus.

One smart skill you can skip for now is footprint analysis since the shoemaker is your contact. You won’t need it unless you subscribe and travel to another city.
