We've added a screen that allows you to upload a new image to use as your detective's avatar. The process will automatically make the image black and white and will scale/crop it to the correct size, but if you're not happy with the way the system resizes your image, you may want to crop it yourself so you have more control (100x78 pixels).

To upload an avatar image:
1) Go to your detective screen
2) Click on "Avatar" in the Account Settings section.
3) Select an image file from your own computer and click "Save"

Please try to keep the images in theme and appropriate. If we have problems with people uploading inappropriate images, we'll put in some kind of moderator approval process. Since this is limited to subscribers only, I'm hoping we won't need to do that.

Poor secret, he deserves a price. I hated doing it, and I pawned it off to him. And I have been having sleepless nights ever since.

Help! I just uploaded my new avatar, it says "avatar updated", but it won't change. It's still the same. If I use firefox, my avatar is not updated, but if I log in using IE, the new avatar will show up. Odd.

Yes, we are having some avatar issues.

We will address the situation soon.

Though I am kind of used to people looking blankly at me...

Also note, some people who have what might be considered 'inappropriate to the theme' avatars are having similar issues trying to change them.

SO whilst I appreciate that there are people out there ready to round up a posse and find themselves a nice hangin' tree, be patient, huh.

Likewise, we ARE chasing up people who have cartoons and the like, and asking them to change their avatars to something vaguely human.

Please, though, this is a very small percentage of current players, and they aren't doing it through spite or malice.

We appreciate how many players 'are' taking care with their choices, and it's great there are so many people enthusiastically embracing this concept.

All in all the new avatar system, when it's working *coughs* has IMO been a success.
