Hello everyone. It's been some time since we've had a game of Resistance, so I'll be hosting one (without story) for everyone to enjoy. If you've never played before, feel free to jump right into the world of uncertainty and lies. I promise lots of fun. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

If any player on a team sabotages a mission, that mission fails! It only takes one "Sabotage" to fail a mission. This is generally true except for one mission where two sabotage votes are needed.

The mission team makeup and rules will be posted once we see how many players join.

Once the team members send me their actions, I will post the results of the mission. You will know if the mission succeeded or failed, and you will know what the actions were, but you will NOT know who chose what action; they will be revealed at random.

After the mission results, a new round starts with a new leader and so on and so forth until either 3 missions succeed or 3 missions fail.

The name of the game is information and MISinformation. The resistance is trying to figure out who the spies are, so that missions don't get sabotaged. The spies are trying everything they can to avoid detection, so that they can be chosen and sabotage missions.

You may talk about ANYTHING on the message boards involving the game. However, if information comes to you from me in a PM, it is YOUR CHOICE what to do with that information. You can keep it to yourself, you can be honest, or you can lie.

YOU MAY NOT PM OTHER PLAYERS ABOUT THE GAME! All discussion must take place here in the message board so that everyone is privy to it. Spies can NOT talk privately about strategy! The only PMs sent regarding the game should be to or from me, as the game master.

Please post below if you would like to play in this game of Resistance.

I'll close signups when 1) we hit 10 participants or 2) when 48 hours have passed from now-- whichever happens first. Then the game shall begin!

Every mission has a different number of members? Or all the same. The real board has different number. I am just confirming.

Also i think, we cant do anything about the PM's outside the thread. But since you can also lie for the sake of your identity, why not? Besides, you will only lie for the sake of the game. Just dont hope it will not ruin your friendship.. Not only that, if the game consists of many players, the balance of the game will lean towards the good people, the site i have playing similar to this game has a statistics about that. And i can confirm. Not unless there is a special power role for the spy, which we cant have in this kind of setup. So the only way we can break that inbalance barrier is to allow PM. It will help the spies to make a play.

I was quick reading and i didnt read, "varying numbers of players". So that answers my question.

And to my suggestion, you can ignore it. I am just a principled man that takes priority in balance in games like this. I am quite a fan of John Nash and his idea in game theory about equilibrium.
