Surveillance skill

I got it but so far its been totally useless - hasn't helped me in a single case.

The hint it gives you add absolutely no value, the person could have alibi or not, without an alibi the person could be innocent or guilty, even though the person promises to help you with the case, it still clams up or not, or doesn't tell you who's guilty if its not itself.

To me it was just a bad buy, throwing precious skill points away... any input, am I overlooking something???

*waves at agency buddy* Hiya!

Ok, so I actually don't have that skill, but the few times I've had the opportunity to use it using another det, it's been pretty helpful, usually allowing me to unclam one person on the list. My experience with it has been that it generally works once per case, for one question.

Part of the problem may be that as a smart skill it works best when you have better smart gear on. I dunno though I'm not all that familiar with it..anyone else?

Yeah, maxing up on smarts usually helps (although it still doesn't work all the time).

You can use it to unclam a suspect and he/she will then usually answer 2 more questions which can be very helpful if a) you don't have a full list of suspects and the townies haven't come through for you, b) if you have 2 clammed up suspects with matching PEs and no idea of their alibis then you might get lucky and make 1 of the unclam, c) if you're using WEs to get to the murderer - I gotten mine from a clammed-up suspect on more than one occasion :)

And yes, it only works once per case :)

I have found that it works 50/50 with max smarts on. Currently I'm in travel gear, and it works maybe 25-30% of the time. I actually find surveillance to be incredibly useful when it works--anything that can get a clammed-up suspect to answer two more questions is a wonderful thing!

Great - I did get to unclam a suspect now using that.

I thought it didn't work but I probably tried it on the wrong witness prev - finger trouble...

Thanks for clearing it up for me!

sweet Pi I found it most helpful to use on a person who wouldnt answer any questions at all. Usually will then give you an alibi and one answer or two answers if you prefer
