Dudgeon was sitting in his office one day, wondering whether he should go onto another case or see if the favor he got might fit into the treasure hunt at some point along the line, (since he never gets the next one needed...), when he went to the statistics page in City Hall. He noticed that ~15,000 people have moved into Sleuth City. That's when a question hit him. He wondered if Ben had any aspirations for how large this City could grow. He keeps making improvements to the city and keeping his subjects happy, so they tell their friends, who move in and enjoy the entity that is now a larger City. Dudgeon gets out his pad and paper, and jots off a quick note. Ben, how large did/do you expect the game to get? Do you have any major goals for it?

Ben has difficulty writing in the third person.
I'm pleased with Sleuth's growth, and very happy that so many people enjoy the game enough to stick with it and contribute to the community.
My near term plans for Sleuth are more of the same. Hopefully it will continue to grow gradually and bring in enough money to allow me to consider it a fun (if not particularly high paying) part time job.
Longer term, it depends on how things grow. It is difficult to predict internet growth rates.
One thing that I have always thought is that the Sleuth system would translate well to a full 3D game. If the Sleuth audience were to become large enough, I would certainly be open to partnering with a game development company capable of producing a 3D game based on the Sleuth system and setting.

That would be pretty sweet. The 2d is good enough for most of us, just don't forget about us when you become famous ;)

Wow, that is something to get excited about! Yes, how big does it have to get?
That would be hard work with the featured mysteries though...
Ben, you only had one city when you had this idea. Is it still on the cards? I love it as is, as Dudgeon says, but that would be very cool.

Heh, well obviously it hasn't happened yet, so that should be an indication...
Actually, I was talking to John Hale about this idea a few months ago and he's of the opinion that the game is uniquely suited for the browser based medium. Reason being, the slower, narrative pacing of the noir genre works well with the way in which a browser based game unfolds.

Works for me. Probably a lot easier to chat to everyone and play at the same time as well! If it were to expand more, the best way would be more cities, or miniquests in the cities, IMHO. Whatever, keep up the good work, you rock:)

Ichiban, Ben has allowed the moderators to share with the community some of our favorite threads. This is just one of my picks. I love the history of Sleuth. I enjoy digging through the threads.
A few others found it interesting as well and have posted in it. That is why it has resurfaced. :)

I think that the 3d medium would only be fun with the feature type mysteries. For everyday cases seeing the same cut scene everytime you walk into the barber's or the restaurant, would be a little time consuming and tedious. But for the features, it would be fun to add graphics to the truly indepth storylines.
