Okay, if I could be any sleuth, real or fictional, I would want to be Edgar allen Poe's detective, Dupin. Although each story is uniquem I love his subtly and mystery.
Sometimes, the most obvious spot, is the least likely, and therefore the last place you would look.
Okay, so who is your detective?

Miss Marple. Sensible and shrewd, she is excellent at solving any mystery. Comparisons, like Moonshh says, are her strengths.

Moonsh as far as I know Peter R. de Vries is not a writer.
He used to be a police detective, but for the last 10 years he has a tv show.
He cracks cases the police failed to, or opens up new cases.
Im sure jstkdn will correct me if Im wrong ;)

I'd be Hercule Poirot... Might change my image a little bit, but those little grey cells will keep on keepin' on, like a hampster on its wheel! If not Hercule, Detective Jim Chee from the Tony Hillerman novels.

I thought Peter R de Vries was a journalist and crime writer in the past??? I don't know for sure, as I just assumed. Yes Peter, because he is not tied to certain procedures and red tape policemen are....he gets stuff done. Even if he has to kick the police, government and lawyers in the shins that drooped the ball because of....politics, power, games, procedures and other things that stand in the way to serve justice properly.
I wouldn't want to be him though. he will be dead in 5 years. In Holland you can't afford to be too outspoken anymore.
