Okay, if I could be any sleuth, real or fictional, I would want to be Edgar allen Poe's detective, Dupin. Although each story is uniquem I love his subtly and mystery.

Sometimes, the most obvious spot, is the least likely, and therefore the last place you would look.

Okay, so who is your detective?

Hercule Poirot, all the way. You use the most ridiculous of things to weave out complicated murder plots with the "little grey cells." Go, go, Poirot!!

I especially love Poirot in "Death on the Nile," and "The Mysterious Affair at Styles." Without that egg-shaped head and mustache, Poirot would look too typical. So, my sleuth is Hercule Poirot.

Miss Marple. I love the way she compares people she meets to other people she has known. I experience that in my real life, too. Although I don't think I have ever solved a crime because of it...

Miss Marple. Sensible and shrewd, she is excellent at solving any mystery. Comparisons, like Moonshh says, are her strengths.

Moonsh as far as I know Peter R. de Vries is not a writer.
He used to be a police detective, but for the last 10 years he has a tv show.
He cracks cases the police failed to, or opens up new cases.
Im sure jstkdn will correct me if Im wrong ;)
