Is this worth spending skill points on? Would I still need the barber?

This skill allow you to determine, if you have a reasonable smart bonus, if hairs are curly or straight.
It's useful, but looking at your experience points there are probably more useful skills to choose first, for example the advanced interview skills.

Yes, you would certainly still need the barber to show which suspect the hair matches. Advanced analysis helps narrow down who it might be.

And if you subscribe, you get to travel to other cities, where you will get totally different set of contacts - so the smart skills will be more important since you may not get the Barber.
