I had to ask, cause some of these motives are a bit..... just funny? well how many have you gotten rid of for such a horrible offence?

Correction: I agree with you Merritt 2.0 about the motives being a bit more realistic, however, the way it is keeps you guessing & makes it harder to solve.

I pay no attention to the motives, just as I pay no attention to the type of crime scene. I think they are all just random and don't have anything to do with the actual solution of the case.

This is hilarious!
Solomon was a child. Quiet, non-assuming, and forgotten. Solomon was lost. Solomon Birdsell is dead.
Topping her list was Helen Birdsell, Solomon's Wife. Helen wanted to steal a family heirloom.
Another person she suspected was Brandon Birdsell, Solomon's Son. Brandon wanted revenge on the victim, for a long forgotten slight.

I think the idea is that Solomon (or whoever) was childlike in his innocence.

I still have the image of a child with a wife and son stuck in my mind.
